a yoga studio — melbourne — breathe, then move
still point.
Still Point is a small Melbourne studio for three things done well — Vinyasa, Restorative yoga, and a Beginners’ course for the rest of us. One room, a weekly rhythm, and teachers who keep time by the breath.

Mats, bolsters and blankets wait in the room — arrive a little early; we begin on time. The Beginners’ course runs in four-week chapters, Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings; write to us and we will hold you a place in the next one.
The Practice
Vinyasa is the moving half of the week: sequences led by the breath, unhurried but warm, building heat the way a stove builds it — gradually, then all at once. The morning classes lean bright and steady; the midday class is built to return you to the day rather than take you out of it. You will not be asked to perform. You will be asked to pay attention.
Restorative is the still half. Bolsters, blankets, low light and long holds — poses you settle into the way you settle into an armchair, and stay. Nothing to achieve and nowhere to be; the nervous system does the work while you practise the rare skill of letting it. People arrive tired and leave taller.
The Beginners’ course is the door in: four weeks, the same evening each week, the small vocabulary of yoga learned properly — how to stand, how to fold, how to breathe on purpose. No experience assumed, no flexibility required; stiffness is not a barrier here, it is material. Most of our regulars began exactly where you are.
The Teachers
The Room
One room, and that is the point. Timber underfoot, low warm light, props within arm’s reach and nothing on the walls asking for your attention. We keep it the way you keep a good tool: clean, warm, ready.
An hour here comes back to you later — as sleep, as patience, as breath that arrives before the reply does.
Visit, or write first
Still Point is in Melbourne. Classes run to the weekly timetable above; the rest is conversation. Write to us about a class, the course, or simply where to begin — we read everything, and we reply, unhurried.
